Tri, Sri Lanka
Opened in December 2015 in Sri Lanka, Tri is an awe-inspiring beauty on Lake Koggala and an exemplar of contemporary, sustainable luxury design and architecture.
Tri’s 11 unique suites are dotted around a six-acre island hill on the shores of serene Lake Koggala. Inspired by nature’s ubiquitous Golden Ratio, the property is designed in a spiral formation, with sequential spaces emanating from a central water tower that captures spectacular 360-degree views.
Built using entirely local materials, both interiors and exteriors blend into the landscape, with living walls, green roofs, edible gardens, solar arrays and recycled wood creating a wholly sustainable space for relaxation, contemplation and creativity.
Tri’s visionary British owner, Robert Drummond, discovered the site over a decade ago and enlisted award-winning architect, Raefer Wallis of A00 Architects, to create a hotel that is guided by nature, evolved by aesthetic passion and fortified by an all-encompassing sustainable philosophy. The result is a masterpiece of forward-thinking flair, where mathematical marries artistic, and intelligence embraces emotion.
Rob’s wife and co-founder, Lara Baumann, leads Tri’s revolutionary wellness programme. As the creator of the unique Quantum Yoga method, a personally optimised yoga practice using Ayurvedic assessment methods, Lara ensures this holistic approach sits at the heart of Tri’s wellness philosophy with daily classes in Tri’s treetop yoga shala and treatments in their two treatment rooms.
